What do you put under artificial turf before laying?
For optimal drainage, your lawn should be built upon a foundation of Granite Dust. This material is very permeable yet robust, and it allows water to pass easily throughout. Depending on the conditions of the site, this Granite Dust can be spread to a depth of 25 mm when installing turf.
Can you lay turf over grass?
To prevent the new grass from not being able to take good roots, we do not advise planting turf on top of the old grass. Also, weeds may find a way to invade the fresh sod. If the problem that necessitated relaying the lawn isn't fixed, it will get worse over time.
Can you install artificial turf over dirt?
It would be best if you used a subbase when putting in fake grass on top of soil or dirt. Prepare the ground for your artificial grass by digging it out. Existing grass, roots, mulch, pine needles, and other debris that could damage the artificial grass over time must be removed.
How long does turf take to root?
It may take up to six weeks for the turf to establish a healthy root system. For the shallow root system to form, around two weeks are needed. That's why it's important to avoid walking on the grass for a while so it can establish a strong foundation. You need to give the grass at least six weeks to mature before the first frost.
Do weeds grow through artificial grass?
In spite of artificial grass's greater weed resistance compared to natural turf, weeds may occasionally emerge via tiny gaps in the backing or around the edges. Depending on the infill used during installation, weeds may potentially be able to grow through it.
